How fast will I see results, and what's realistic in 8 weeks?
It depends on you, so I won't promise you a date. In our experience, a lot of women notice their energy and bloat change first, often in the first couple of weeks. Their clothes tend to follow. For the full 8 weeks, you and your coach set a realistic goal together on your onboarding call.
You want to know what's realistic.
Fair question.
Here's the honest version.
Why can't anyone give me an exact timeline?
Because they haven't met you yet.
A lot of the women we talk to ask this on their very first call. Some of them are impatient. Some have an event in December. Some just want to know it'll be worth it.
All fair.
Here's what changes the pace from one woman to the next:
- Where you're starting. Your body, your history, how long you've been stuck.
- How much muscle you're building. Muscle is the goal, and the scale can't tell it apart from fat.
- Your sleep and stress. In our experience, a rough stretch of sleep or a brutal month at work tends to slow things down.
- How steady your weeks are. Steady weeks add up. Perfect ones aren't required.
Anyone who gives you an exact date without knowing those things is guessing.
I'd rather be honest with you.
What do most women notice first?
A lot of the women we coach tell us energy is the first thing they notice. The jeans come next.
Here's the order we see most often:
- Energy. Fewer 3 p.m. crashes. More left for your evening.
- Less bloat. The first 14 days are lower carb and higher protein, with a short break from alcohol, dairy, gluten and processed sugar. In our experience, that's when a lot of women feel the afternoon bloat ease. Here's why the bloat often changes first.
- Your clothes. A waistband that sits differently. A shirt that stops pulling.
- Your strength. The dumbbells that felt heavy in week 1 start to feel like yours.
Everyone's order is a little different. Some women see the scale move early. Some see it last.
Here's the thing.
In our experience, those early changes often come quickly, and then progress gets quieter. That quiet stretch is normal. It's your body moving into the next stage, and we talk about it before it happens. More on that in why progress gets quieter after the first couple of weeks.
What's realistic over the full 8 weeks?
We've helped 1,000+ women lose 10 to 20 lbs of fat in 8 weeks.
Fat, specifically. That word matters.
Most women come to us wanting to lose weight. What they actually want to lose is fat.
That number is a track record across a lot of women. It isn't a promise about your body, and I'd be wary of anyone who made you one before they knew you.
Because you're building muscle while you lose fat, the scale only tells part of the story. Your coach also watches:
- How your clothes fit.
- Your progress photos.
- How much stronger you're getting.
- Your energy, sleep and mood.
Chris calls the goal shrink wrap. Leaner, firmer, stronger, and still you.
If the scale has stalled while your clothes are changing, read the scale hasn't moved but my clothes fit differently.
How do we set my goal?
Together, on your onboarding call with your coach.
You talk about where you're starting, what you want and what your life actually looks like. Then you set a goal that's ambitious and realistic at the same time.
The pace is partly your choice:
- A steadier pace. For a full calendar, a demanding job and a family that still needs dinner.
- A more ambitious pace. For the woman who wants to push, with a coach who keeps "pushing" from turning into under-eating. In our experience, that one backfires.
A lot of the women we talk to describe themselves as all-or-nothing. Your coach's job is to keep you ambitious without letting you burn out by week 3.
And because the goal is set together, it's the goal our guarantee is built around:
"Our most successful clients show up for every check-in, follow their nutrition plan, and do the workouts properly. Do that, and if you haven't hit the result we set together on your onboarding call, we keep coaching you for free until you do."
What if my results are slower than I hoped?
Then you tell your coach.
That's what the weekly check-ins are for. She looks at how your body is responding and adjusts the plan with you.
Chris says it on every onboarding call: "All we want from you is communication."
Slower isn't stuck. A plan that adjusts keeps it moving.
And 8 weeks is where it starts. Many women continue into Metabolic Mastery, our ongoing coaching, to keep building. Here's what happens after the 8 weeks.
Ready to set a goal that's actually realistic?
You deserve an honest answer about your body.
That starts with someone looking at it.
Start with the short video on our homepage at fortyfwd.com. It walks through why your body stopped responding after 40 and the method we use to change that.
If it sounds like you, apply for a call with Chris.
He reads every application himself. On the call, he'll look at where you're starting and what you're hoping for, and tell you straight whether the program is the right fit. If it is, he walks you through the investment then, once you both know it's a fit.
Your energy will probably tell you first.
Let's give it something to talk about.

In our experience, early changes often come quickly and then progress gets quieter. That's normal, and your coach adjusts the plan with you at your weekly check-ins.
