What happens after the 8 weeks? Will I just slide back?
Not if you plan for it. Around week 7, you book a call with your coach to map out what comes next. Many women continue into Metabolic Mastery, our ongoing coaching, which shifts the focus to building strength and muscle. Either way, you leave knowing how to eat, train and recover for the body you have now.
The 8 weeks are the foundation.
What you build on top of it is your call.
And you won't be making that call alone.
Why do so many women worry about sliding back?
Because a lot of them have lived it.
Eight great weeks somewhere else. Then the program ended, the plan disappeared, and slowly the old habits crept back in.
So of course you're asking.
Here's the thing. In our experience, women slide back when everything stops at once:
- No next step. The program ends on a date, and nobody tells you what day one after looks like.
- No one checking in. The first busy week comes, and there's nobody to notice.
- Nothing left to work toward. The number moved, so the goal is gone.
We built the end of the 8 weeks to avoid exactly that.
If you want the full story on why fat comes back after strict diets, read why you can't keep it off, and what to do about it. This page is about what actually happens at the end of ours.
What actually happens at the end of the 8 weeks?
The last stretch is about what's next as much as the finish.
- A short video from Chris. Heading into week 7, he walks you through what comes after the Reset and how we think about the long term.
- Your week 7 call. You book a call with your coach. You talk about what's changed, what you want next, and whether ongoing coaching makes sense for you.
- Week 8, you finish strong. Your final workouts, plus after photos to compare with the ones you took at the start.
- Then you decide. Keep going with us, or take what you've learned and run with it.
No pressure either way.
That call is there to help you choose the right next step for you.
What is Metabolic Mastery?
It's our ongoing coaching, and it's where many women go after the first 8 weeks.
The Reset is a fat loss phase. Mastery usually starts with a build phase, where the focus shifts to strength and muscle.
Here's what changes:
- More strength training. Your week becomes 4 strength sessions plus an active recovery day, like a walk, yoga or Pilates.
- A new nutrition plan. Built for the phase you're in, because building muscle takes fuel.
- Your coach stays in your corner. Still checking your progress, still adjusting the plan as your body responds.
- Then back into fat loss. After a build phase, you move into another fat loss phase, starting from a stronger place.
Why build at all?
Chris puts it simply: "Muscle is metabolism."
Most women come to us wanting to lose weight. What they actually want to lose is fat. In our experience, the more muscle you've built, the more your body has working for you when the next fat loss phase comes around.
Some of the women we coach have been with us for two and three years.
They're still getting stronger.
Do I have to rely on a coach forever?
No.
Some women tell us on their call that they don't want to be leaning on us for years.
Good. That was never the deal.
What you learn in the 8 weeks is yours to keep. Staying on is a choice, and the women who stay make it because they want to keep building.

What do you keep if you stop after 8 weeks?
Everything you learned.
Back in my early 30s, when I finally admitted I couldn't do it on my own, Chris taught me three things. How to fuel my body. How to train. How to recover.
Those are the same three things you leave with:
- How to eat. Real food, portioned with your hand. No calorie counting, no food scales, and your favourite foods still in.
- How to train. Strength workouts at home with a set of dumbbells, and how to keep progressing them so they keep working.
- How to recover. Why sleep and rest days belong in the plan, and why more workouts isn't always the answer.
- How to get back on track. One off weekend doesn't undo anything. You restart at the next meal.
We've helped 1,000+ women lose 10 to 20 lbs of fat in 8 weeks.
Those 8 weeks teach you how.
What you do next decides how far it goes.
How do you keep from sliding back on your own?
If you decide to go it alone after the 8 weeks, here's what we'd tell you:
- Keep lifting. Chris calls resistance training "the foundation and heartbeat" of everything we do. That doesn't change when the program ends.
- Keep protein in every meal. The habit you built in week 1 is the one to hold on to.
- Plan for the busy weeks. Travel, holidays, a work crunch. Decide ahead of time what your minimum looks like.
- Watch more than the scale. How your clothes fit, how strong you feel and how much energy you have tell you more.
And if you feel things starting to slip, you know where to find us.
Sari built for the long term
I sat down with Sari, a 44-year-old mom of two, about the simple strategies that helped her build strength and set herself up for long-term success, no matter how busy life gets.
Ready to start with the end in mind?
You don't have to choose what happens after week 8 today.
You just need a start that's built to last.
Start with the short video on our homepage at fortyfwd.com. It walks through why your body stopped responding after 40 and the method we use to change that.
If it sounds like you, apply for a call with Chris. You can see everything the coaching includes on our coaching page.
He reads every application himself. On the call, he'll look at what happened after the programs you've tried before and tell you straight whether the program is the right fit. If it is, he walks you through the investment then, once you both know it's a fit.
Eight weeks is the start.
Let's make it stick.
